How significant is the arrival of AI and Generative AI? It is the belief of our Editorial Team, that AI and Generative AI is the most significant “Tech Innovation” since the establishment of the “Internet.” While there appears to be skepticism and confusion among “Investment Experts,” the role of those “Experts” is not dissimilar to “Short Sellers” on Wall Street. It is their job to influence markets. It is our job to participate and to help develop and safeguard the future of technology and the culture.

While it is only 18 months since the initial release of Gen AI into the consumer mainstream, but it is estimated that the “Global User Base” far exceeds 1Billion. Of course, it got a quick jolt off the starting blocks with every “Student” embracing its extraordinary “Teaching Skills,” but the impact on every industry, from the Legal Community, Entertainment Industry, Healthcare, Finance, Data Security, Insurance, Energy, in fact every profession has in one way or another embraced AI. And that only scratches the surface as AI becomes a “Personal Assistant” and will then shortly manifest as a "Virtual Human Robot" and become a welcome member of every household.

However, the arrival of AI also brings with it “Challenges of Safety” and the obvious need for limits and guidelines. While “Laws” for most contingencies and protection of copyright, privacy, bias, personal safety and basic human rights have all been well established through statute, both Federal and State law, the arrival of Artificial Intelligence has revealed glaring weaknesses in our current system. The legal establishment never imagined that “HAL 9000 from 2001” would appear so quickly.

This event, “The AI Summit on Safety, Legislation, Copyright and Law” is the first of what we hope will be many industry gatherings. Through our “Committee Structure,” the Workshops, Meetings, Plenaries, Dinners and Special Events, this gathering of “Industry Leadership,” representing Policy, Technology, Law, Guilds, Corporations and Science and Academia we hope, will provide pathways and avenues of exploration that will reveal real-world solutions for the many unknowns which the arrival of Generative AI has presented.
